Rollers and clips were the most commonly used method of setting at the time, particularly to achieve a dressier look for competition styling.
The black & white salon scene above is from 1970 and will be familiar to many. By 1974 (below) ‘Blow-waving’ was becoming more popular.
This popular short hair style was a commercial success.
